Here is a selection of photos from the past year.

July

With all this sunshine, I have been to my local park Battersea Park a few weeks ago with Yan and his family and Christian.

This past Sunday I went to Hyde park. I went for a ride on the new solar powered boat with Kavita and we also went to see the pavilion besides the Serpentine gallery.

Antiapathy

Have I got your attention with the title?  I went to a talk about 'water' held by Antiapathy.  The talk took place on a river boat (made in Sweden!) on the Thames.  It was actually the first time I had been on a boat in the Thames since living in London.

The Sultan's Elephant, 4th to 7th May 2006

On this weekend one of the largest street theatre performances took place in London. Itwas based on a play by Jules Verne and featured a immense mechanical elephant.  The performance was staged by the French theatre company "Royal De Luxe".  I am told the planning started 5 years ago to make it happen.

Visit to Nunhead Cemetery in South London

I went to a cemetery in May with a friend Allan McAteer.  The cemetery was left unattended for many years which you can see from some of the photos.  There is one gravestone that has a tree literally growing right on top of it..

2007

Well, here we are it is 2007.  I have not been using a camera lately but my mobile phone to take pictures.  It takes some decent photos as you can see here.

January

It is almost a month into 2007 now;  where does time go?  I have been busy at work and getting stressed out at times;  I am maybe trying to do too many things.  I need to slow down a bit.

It snowed in London on Wednesday January 24th; I did not know until I literally stepped out of the 'flat' to go to work.  The tree is just near where I live.

Today, I was having an informal chat with Shimpei about the computer game art project. I need some help on it with the art production.  We then went for a walk around Piccadilly and stopped at the courtyard of the Royal Academy.  There are these 2 concrete structures;  Shimpei thought the structures looked rather unsafe and I pondered that.  It must have been some work involved to get these things built.  The piece is called Jericho.

And then I went to Victoria & Albert museum in South Kensington.  I took some time to have a look at the rooms on Japan. China, and South Asia.

There is an light and audio installation in the court yard.

Dalkey, Ireland, December

I went and spent a very very chilled out weekend visiting Toby and Shanna in Ireland.  They are living in Dalkey; a town just outside Dublin. While going for a walk, we passed near the shore and an older chap starting feeding the seals and he could get one of them to climb out of the water to get a 'free lunch'.  You can get an idea of how immense the seal is it 'ambling' up the steps.

London Open House, September

On September 17th and 18th, it was London Open House 2005.  Many buildings are open to public for only these 2 days of the year.  I took advantage of it and had a really good week-end being a tourist in London.

Some of the places, I want to visit were: Wigmore Hall, The Great Eastern Hotel, Wapping Tunnel, the old Daily Express Building, Samuel Johnson's townhouse and Leadenhall Market.

Vancouver, August

I flew from London to Vancouver to spend a whole 4 days and a bit there. A long trip to make for such a short visit. Well, I had not seen some of my family in a few years and I also it gave me a chance to catch up with Konstantinos at Urban Visuals and meet some friends. There are some photos of downtown; having lunch with Clarence and Max in Yaletown; watching the fireworks over English Bay from Max's apartment and some photos of my nephew Fuki in mom's back yard. And lastly, some photos in Central Park (yeah, Vancouver has one).

Celebration of Light home page

The fireworks photos are from an annual summer event called 'Celebration of Light'. I caught the last night. Over a period of four shows, three different countries compete with their pyrotechnic displays. This year the teams were Canada, Sweden and China. Sweden won this year. The last show is a finale with a fireworks display from each team.

Photo gallery - Lotusland in the summer

Vancouver's nickname is Lotusland because the weather is temperate and it is laid back place. The weather was sunny and hot; it was about 28 degrees C on average while I was there. It lived up to the nickname while I was there.
